Mocha Truffles with Elegant Chocolate Drizzle

These Mocha Truffles are a delightful combination of rich, creamy chocolate and the bold essence of coffee. Perfect for a special treat, gift-giving, or just indulging, these truffles are easy to make and even easier to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups dark chocolate (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Cocoa powder or finely grated chocolate for coating
  • Extra melted chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coffee Mixture:
    Brew a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool. You can use espresso or a French press for a more intense flavor.

  2. Heat the Cream and Sugar:
    In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and sugar over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the cream starts to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  3. Melt the Chocolate:
    Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chocolate and let it sit for a minute to allow the chocolate to soften. Add the brewed coffee and vanilla extract (if using), then gently stir until the mixture is smooth and glossy.

  4. Chill the Mixture:
    Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the chocolate mixture for at least 2 hours, or until it is firm enough to scoop.

  5. Shape the Truffles:
    Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out portions of the chilled chocolate mixture and roll them between your palms to form smooth, round truffles.

  6. Coat the Truffles:
    Roll each truffle in cocoa powder or finely grated chocolate until evenly coated. For a twist, you can also use crushed nuts, powdered sugar, or sprinkles.

  7. Add Decorative Drizzles:
    To create decorative chocolate lines, melt a small amount of dark or white chocolate until smooth. Transfer the melted chocolate into a piping bag with a small round tip or a plastic zip-lock bag with a tiny corner cut off. Hold the bag over the truffles and gently squeeze while moving your hand in a zigzag motion to create thin, elegant lines on the truffles. Let the drizzled chocolate set at room temperature or place the truffles in the fridge briefly.


  8. Serve or Store:
    Arrange the truffles in a serving dish or gift box. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
