These Espresso Brownies are the perfect combination of rich, fudgy chocolate and a bold espresso kick. Topped with a layer of silky chocolate ganache, these brownies are a decadent treat for coffee and chocolate lovers alike.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole coffee beans (ground to fine powder)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

For the Ganache

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Espresso Powder:
Grind the coffee beans to a fine powder using a coffee grinder. Set aside.

  2. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pan:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

  3. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, espresso powder, and salt until well combined.

  4. Combine the Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and slightly fluffy.

  5. Create the Batter:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in the dark chocolate chips for extra richness.

  6. Bake the Brownies:
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to maintain a fudgy texture.

  7. Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:
While the brownies are cooling, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and pour it over the dark chocolate chips in a bowl. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until the ganache is smooth and glossy.

  8. Top the Brownies with Ganache:
Once the brownies have cooled, pour the ganache over them and spread it evenly with a spatula. Allow the ganache to set before cutting into squares.

Tips

  • Enhance the espresso flavor: For a stronger espresso taste, increase the amount of ground coffee by an additional tablespoon.
  • Chocolate variations: Use semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips if you prefer a sweeter brownie.
  • Storage: Store the brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for a fudgier texture.
Enjoy!
